I find this very disturbing. Hamas started this war with their Massacre of babies, children and women. Had they not, there’d be no war. The collateral damage falls squarely on Hamas.
Now that Israel has made its response to Iran, I hope that the leaders of both sides have emptied their bladders, and they can stop their pizzing contest.
If Joe wants to win crucial swing states like Michigan, he had better start getting tougher on Nutandyahoo and the far right regime in Israel. The IDF seems like they will not stop their actions in Palestine until it is ethnically cleansed. I know that is very likely Biden has to placate some powerful factions with deep pockets associated with the DNC who are firmly backing Israel but there is no way in justifying killing thousands of Palestinians to avenge the Hamas’ attack. Yes Hamas is evil but 2 wrongs do not make a right. Biden has to realize that trying to get the current regime to see reason and reach some sort of compromise, broker a cease fire and stop the carnage is about as likely as the alt right repubbas in Congress (as well as many governor’s mansions in red states) to see reason on any issue. It is all about power, control and coin for the 1%ers, the war hawks as well as the far right who have been supporting this carnage.
Hamas understudy of the Irgun, Lehi, and Haganah; Israel taught them the basics in the 40s and 50s then put them in internment camps to die after they had their ancestral homes stolen from them!
Israel launched a limited strike on Iranian targets. Iran has not indicated they’d respond. Maybe saner heads have prevailed? So far.
This reminds me of a point I used to make when I taught WWI: it was no power’s interest to go to war in August, 1914 but each power did go to war. Because of reasons like pride, duty to ally, nationalism, etc.
I support Israel, but I am not a fan of Netanyahu. If the Israelis want unified support from the free world they need to do much more to protect women and children in Gaza and in the West Bank. Is there room for a foreign supported refugee camp on Israeli territory? They should also protect Palestinian men who deliver HAMAS terrorists to the IDF.
Follow the money…. Bibi’s largest donor Miriam Adelson, Trump’s largest donor Miriam Adelson…. coincidence…..?
In response to the October 7th, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Miriam Adelson published an Op-Ed in Forbes Israel, entitled “Dead to Us”. Referring to wave of Pro-Palestinian protests occurring across various western cities and countries, Adelson stated that “Those ghastly gatherings of radical Muslim and Black Lives Matter activists, ultra-progressives and career agitators were nothing short of street parties. These people are not our critics. They are our enemies, the ideological enablers in the West of those who would go to any length to eradicate us from the Middle East. And, as such, they should be dead to us”. WIKI.
The US vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution on Thursday that would have allowed Palestine to be admitted as a full member of the international body and effectively recognised its statehood.
The Biden administration said that while it supports Palestinian statehood, it could only be granted as part of wide-ranging peace negotiations with Israel.

I think this argument was made in Nuremberg.

Does Israel really want to fight a multi-front war? More importantly, does the US want to support Israel in a multi-front war?

Hopefully, the same result will not occur.
