How is it Dejoy can destroy the Postal system, own a company in direct competition with it, be a very partisan opponent to governance and still hold the job?
Thanks to DeJoyless consolidating USPS sorting centers, it took 5 days for my sister to get the birthday card I sent to her, and she lives only 3 miles away. As a retired letter carrier, I am saddened that Congress is allowing a Drumpf lackey to run the Constitutionally mandated USPS into the ground.
Only the Board of Governors can remove DeJoy. Of the current board members appointed by a President, 5 were put there by Biden and 2 put there by Trump. DeJoy and the Deputy Postmaster General are also members elected by the rest of the board – not appointed by the President.
So take this whole mess and drop it at Biden’s feet. It’s his appointees that are letting this happen.
I thought some of Trump’s appointments were screwy, but Biden has taken it to limits never seen before (yes worse than Jimmy’s Peanut Brigade) by going for the most diverse administration ever. If their job is to make our lives worse, they are doing a bang-up job. I almost think the voters could come up with better choices.
If I were to guess he is there to insure that mail in ballots get lost and they totally screw up the upcoming election, thus the unwavering support of the maga republican’ts.
And his perfidy long predates his stint as Postmaster General. The Blobgoblin gave him that job after several years of generous donations to the GOP (pre-GQP). He was a businessman (letter&parcel delivery, a specialized UPS) in my area and a generous contributor to right-wing candidates. As were, coincidentally, all of his employees who, by a stroke of statistical luck, all received annual bonuses that exactly matched their contributions. This was patently (and flagrantly) illegal and he was brought up on charges, but for some reason, in our red-leaning purple state, they somehow evaporated. By which time he’d attracted the attention of the “Nudnik Descending a Staircase”, to which he (and his employees) had donated over $1M.
Then the USPS Board of Governors (all Trumpkin pawns) commissioned two search firms to recommend a Postmaster General but DeJoy wasn’t on either list. At which point, the Chairman of the USPS Board (who had been the Chairman of the RNC and knew DeJoy) made the decision. So a man with no experience in the Postal Service except as a competitor, was the guy they chose to run the USPS… into the ground. Remember, the R’s had the vapors about “voter fraud in mail-in ballots”, so DeJoy dutifully set about to do fix it, dismantling whole service sectors, de-funding what he couldn’t sell off, shuffling all the top executives who knew how to keep the system running, and in short, taking a wrecking ball to Franklin’s House, and giving the pieces to commercial delivery companies. All during COVID when a lot of people were depending on the mail service rather than go outside.
When he was called before Congress to explain the deteriorating state of the Postal Service, he apparently lied under oath about everything except the fact that he didn’t know the cost to mail a postcard. Then there was his attempt to send all Colorado residents a mailing with bogus information about voting by mail. Et nauseum cetera …
I truly wish those rural, WiFi weak, supporters of the former president would recognize that having such “leadership” means for their day-to-day life. You’d think that not having access to medical clinics, hospitals, etc. might have been an omen, but maybe it’ll take not getting that letter from Aunt Louise and Uncle Elmo for it to sink in.
DeJoy took over when the post office was months away from insolvency. He closed poorly performing sorting centers and restructured the manpower intensive system in to hub and spoke, he got the rule stopped that the USPS retirement health plan be completely prefunded – unlike any other federal agency – that was causing most of the red ink, he’s electrifying the mail vehicles. Yes, getting the new centers coordinated is causing delays, but hopefully that’s temporary. USPS is at the breakeven point on finances. I was worried when Trump appointed him, but unlike the preceding postmasters that were cowed by Congress and the Postal Union, DeJoy is working to solve the problems and having some success. And no, children, DeJoy has not tried to influence voting by mail as much as my fellow Democrats sometimes rant.
I used to be able to get medications for free though the mail, using my plan D medical insurance, but the mail is so unreliable, I don’t dare do that now. It’s difficult enough getting prescriptions from the local pharmacy.
He has been intent on actively destroying the USPS since before he was appointed to the postion by the Board of Governors of the Postal Service. Unfortunately, they are the ONLY ones who can remove him. Not the White House, not Congress, not SCOTUS. ONLY the USPS BGPS.

Is he a career criminal? Why, yes. Do at least SOME career criminals get a little bit of a jolt, at least once in a while? Ask Traitor Trump.

His “job’ was given to him by Orange Jesus, who wants the post office destroyed in time for this election.

Biden needs to fire DeJoy, now, not later.
