Her race is run, ad she’s earned her rest. God bless her family and comfort them.
My screen’s blurry. Must be a malfunction. I just think about Mr. Carter, and how he’ll miss her so. Sadly, I don’t think he has a year. Such close spouses tend to follow each other in under a year. I’d seen it a lot with my patients. My grandparents did.
Home hospice workers are angels on earth. My MIL was comfortable and calmer in her last months. Hubby, who is agnostic, was greatly helped by the chaplain.
A very long time ago Jimmy and Rosalyn were doing a joint book tour and found their way to the SF Bay Area. They took a few days off to work at a Habitat for Humanity work site. A site I happened to be volunteer worker. I was hanging drywall and early one morning I had a new workmate. “Hi, I’m Jimmy.” “Hi Jimmy, I’m Teto.” A few minutes later as we were pounding away on the drywall, he missed. And missed my hand. “Mr President, I voted for you twice and worked for you as well and this is the thanks I get?” I said in mock concern. And then he lit up that big toothy smile and said, “Teto, lemme buy you a cup of coffee.” I told him that I drank tea and since he was a guest, I would buy him a cup of coffee. We ambled to the coffee area and while there he introduced me to Rosalyn. And that was one of the best days in my life. And it was the best “yesterday’s doughnut” I ever had.
She and Jimmy are undeniably good people. He was not wrong about the malaise – merely slightly early. It’s definitely here now!
I – an atheist- voted against Jimmy because of his blatant religiosity- my mistake, at the time. Religion is ruining us now, but Jimmy was/is an intelligent and decent man- and I voted for him against “St. Ronnie.”
A guy who had his priorities straight. When journalist Katie Couric once asked President Carter whether winning a Nobel Peace Prize or being elected president of the United States was the most exciting thing that ever happened to him, Carter answered: “When Rosalynn said she’d marry me — I think that’s the most exciting thing.”
The other day I was looking at a picture of the inhabitants of the front row at the funeral of George H. W. Bush. It was then-president Trump and previous presidents Obama, Clinton, and Carter, with their wives sandwiched in between. It probably won’t be long before it’s former President Carter’s turn to be the horizontal guy up front. I wonder if they’ll all be invited to that one.
I like that she’s carrying the briefcase she carried every day, which held her life’s work, promoting mental health and combatting the stigma of mental illness.

They’ve lived a very fine life. Exemplary even. I do expect he’ll follow along shortly.

Malaise Jimmy Carter managed to appear competent in comparison to Joe Biden.

Mike, you captured her perfectly even without the graffiti. This is a kind, moving tribute.

True followers of their faith. Unlike the cino bunch on the far right. (cino – Christian in name only)

He was a decent man, but he was in over his head. Not up to the job.

Saw an interesting YouTube, by someone who goes by “Tennesee Brando”, on the occasion of Rosalynn’s passing.
He said he is not a Christian, but if he were, he would want to be like the Carters.
They are the best of us. My wife and I were honored to have met them.
