Go back to 2/14/1921, and leave a flaming bag of dog doo on Walt’s step.

GoComics has decided as a cost saving measure to merge two long-running comic strips that have long since seen better days. The new feature will be called “Gasoline Alley Oop” and will feature a pair of intrepid time travellers, one a grizzled caveman from the Bone Age and the other a creepy 21st Century magical doll. To replace noted chemist Oscar Boom, missing in action for the past six years, Doc Wonmug takes on a new assistant named Joel, whose bumbling antics cause constant time-machine malfunctions resulting in wacky, zany trips to the past. New writer Joey Sayers will be addded to the creator’s stable since Jim Scancarelli ran out of story ideas years ago. Her mission will be to craft plots that make no sense and add daily one-liner gags that are never funny. GoComics hopes to attract new, younger fans and regrets any offense this may cause for long-time readers of both features. Andy Sareyan, President of parent corpoation McMeel Andrews, in a recent interview said “it’s not like those readers are important; they’re all really old and going to die off anyway.” New writer Joey Sayers was estatic about her new assignment and promised to bring some changes. “You are going to see some new additions to the Wallet family. A mysterious newcomer to the Alley will turn out to be the long-lost great-granddaughter of Walt Wallet, a byproduct of Walt’s secret affair with Phyllis’ one-time maid, Mandy. The news will so upset Walt that he will… wait, I better not let the readers what I have planned for Walt.”

People like to fantasize about time travel. I myself have done that. But the analytical me always thinks. You can’t travel to the past because it has “past”. It no longer exists. You can’t travel to the future because it hasn’t happened yet. There is nothing to travel to. All we have is now. We better make the best of it.
