Born in the southeast and named for my grandmother's grandfather, who died in the war. Last name his, not mine. His death site is now a monastery. Life is funny that way.

A great strip, showing the different variables in making a life decision. We want to, but we don’t. Bravo Jimmy.

Letting your father die, even due to his own shenanigans, creates problems for the survivors. Not a situation most of us what to be in.

I suspect that many of the things that longtime GA readers don’t like are things that the syndicate requested to boost audience appeal. Talking animals, little kids, people not aging or dying. I can only imagine that in 10 years, if they keep GA around, that we’ll end up with a young cartoonist doing L’l Skeezix, maybe with a dog sidekick. Or two dogs. And goody antics.

Thumbs up to Jimmy for the great vet postcard.

And Happy early Birthday to Skeezix.

Howdy “neighbor” – central southern New Mexico here. Looks like you get more snow than we do, as it will be warming up soon here, and Spring will start in March. But yes, first place I’ve been where snow is on Halloween or Thanksgiving, but not Christmas or Valentine’s Day.

We never exchanged gifts. We do however, right around middle of November, put anything that we buy, that isn’t needed immediately, on or near the table where the Christmas Tree goes. So books, foods, clothes, even paper towels go together, along with cat boxes and cat crinkly paper. On Christmas day, we marvel at the amount of things we got – and most of it being things we wanted. It may not be a surprise, but some of it is, and all of it a celebration of the joy of the season.

I would assume that the owners – the Tribune Content Agency – has mandated changes, and approved of these. They’re defiantly the reasons behind some of the other changes in the past. Since many folks think 2014 will be the year of massive strip cancellations, I suspect GA will be one of many that we wont have around in 2015.
