Avatar is a photo of a Big Boy plastic coin bank from the '60's when I worked there Big Boy Comic books were published by Timely Comics (now Marvel). They were written and drawn by legends Stan Lee, Bill Everett, Sol Brodsky, and Dan DeCarlo.

    Re: 9 passengers. I guess you could say they had 10 seats if you count the co-pilot seat used for a passenger. There were 8 normal seats and the jump seat fold down on the door. Only saw that used once for a kid, and he was soaked good on landing. Never saw more than 9 passengers. Never saw any return to pier to fail to fly, they were just slow to get up with 9.

    Yup, probably a PBY. I was told that the G-21 with twin 450 HP Engines flew better than a PBY with twin 800 HP engines, due to weight distribution problems. I don’t know really, just something I heard. I never saw a PBY. There were also some 4 engine sea planes called Catalina Clippers flying into Catalina. They landed on water then went wheels down and taxied up a ramp and unloaded passengers on land. No idea what those were or where they flew from. I had a great time for the summer but had no income in fall and ended up back at home and back to school.
