    I have seen poisoning, pouring boiling water down the hole, empty bottles installed for wind producing noise, … What worked best as far as I observed is: kids or cows / sheep running around all Summer long.

    Oh yes! Same in my family. Although my parents were born on the oposite sides og Germany (before WW2) One in the Southwest, the other in the Northeast.
