Nice comic interlude for a change.

I’d like to say this is the first time November elections have me depressed. But there was 2016, when a “landslide” for Hillary turned into a Trump victory before the sun went down.

And the thought that Trump can indeed lose by 7 million votes, but because of a handful of people in a handful of states, he can still win the Electoral College. Hey, it almost happened in 2020.

    And then, 6 Jan 21.

And now. That the race is closer than ever, other than most polls still have Trump in the lead – where it counts – in those handful of states that can move the Electoral College.

If I sound scared, I am.

I’m even losing faith that New York will be able to do anything to him as a result of the convictions. First, final resolution of the case is guaranteed to take place after November – and as we know, Trump is banking on being back in the White House by then. Second, what state has the military and law enforcement officers to go up to the White House to take Trump into custody? Because that’s what it’s going to take.

Trump isn’t about to volunteer to go to jail.

I hope and pray that you are right.

From where I sit, it will take a miracle to stop him now.

His supporters are locked in. Biden? Republicans have convinced about half of us to want to jump ship. Not vote for Trump, per se, but a vote not for Biden is a vote for Trump.

Remember, any attempt at applying consequences to Trump only “proves” what a victim he is.

And in the meantime, there is nothing and no one else in the news.

I want to believe he can be stopped.

    Please cite your references.

My Bible does indeed talk about heaven and hell.

But I admit it’s a whole lot more complicated than the binary thing – where it’s possible that Hitler made it if he did at least one thing right, or a deathbed confession – but Mother Teresa – wrong church – yeah, she’s in hell.

    It doesn’t work like that.

    But it works.

I remember Al Fresco s comment (above) being attached to an entirely different cartoon. Did Scott swap it out for this one?

And yes, if Jimmy has gone to meet his maker, where are the headlines?

Oh. I forgot. The media is still concentrating on Trump.

If Jimmy died, likely no one would even notice.

    Only the good die unnoticed.

And hold on to the House. Don’t forget all the redistricting – in favor of the GOP – that SCOTUS refused to challenge. In fact, SCOTUS just made it even harder to challenge Republican gerrymandering.

And my news feed this morning was totally devoid of anything other than what a victim Trump is and how corrupt the trial was.

Darrin Bell got one out, asking for a holiday to celebrate Trump’s conviction, which was a bit in poor taste, but from the rest that I follow, from Mike Peters to Mike Smith, crickets.

As for Trump, it seems that all of this has done nothing but strengthen him. So, it looks like this fall will be once again, Republicans with their hands on all four throttles: House, Senate, POTUS, and SCOTUS.

Not at all the outcome I want to see.

The exact opposite of what we need.

But if the snapshot were taken today, it’s the outcome it looks like we’re going to get.
