HAHAHAHAHA! Ain’t English grand??? You’re right—the mechanic said the law was to take into account the wear and tear on tires from the temperature fluctuations. I grew up in New Mexico/Arizona/Colorado, and the temps were high, esp. in AZ—but that was 60 years ago and it was somewhat cooler then. Also, I don’t remember any laws about tires. Spent the 60s and part of the 70s in your neck of the woods-California, I’m assuming from the CA. I sure miss it—
Opposite end and diagonally across the continent: but we got the “big tar” boys down here, too. . .I’m just too old to be interested. . .usta live in the West, and I do remember the wide open spaces calling to me in my little corvette. . .back in the 60s. . .
Took my car in for its yearly checkup and learned that FL law requires that tires MUST be replaced every six years. . .haven’t had or needed tires since 2017—shows how much I drive. . .course, there WERE those two hip operations AND covid. . .Anyway, what should have cost about a hundred ended up costing a thousand. . .
. . .where to squeeze the toothpaste tube, how to position the toilet paper, how to load the dishwasher, etc., etc., etc. . . .you know, the (un)IMPORTANT stuff that stops the world from turning round. . .
