I am not sure of the pepper’s name, but it was one of those decorative ones sometimes featured in supermarkets near the checkout counter (for inspirational purchase) … but my brother had one and we, of course, tried eating it. It didn’t go well! According to Poison Control, accessed through 911, eating a slice of bread (un-toasted and un-buttered) is the answer. It worked, thankfully!
